I'm an attorney, but only do complex transactional work in real estate and rarely see the inside of a courtroom. For the last three days I have lived in the courtroom and observed first hand how the system is manipulated.
When you see lies prevail because they carefully crafted by a hired gun and you realize your own attorney didn't stand a chance against hired character assassins you realize the system is rigged.
What shocks me is how easily evidence is magically created out of thin air and sadly the lesson learned is if you don't have real documentation to support your case an immoral person can just create it using Adobe Acrobat.
Today I am reminded that justice rarely prevails and when we are given an opportunity to help justice along we should not squander it. Today, I am squarely on the side the person fighting to tell the truth.
I have a difficult case ahead of me regarding a fraudulent transfer of real estate in the Florida Keys. I have never taken a case to trial but today's injustice has inspired me to fight for what's right for my client and take it as far as justice will take me.
Maybe winning that case will restore a little of the balance of justice that I saw tipped toward injustice today.
